more work

Life took some rapid turns, but I'm getting back on track. On the search for motivation: I thought a certain someone took it, but I'm finding it again in other places. Everyone's gotta learn to walk on their own two feet, right?

New sketchiez + Alien Race

The long awaited Alien Race book is finally coming out! The release is final this time, and it should be in stores within the month. I had the opportunity of seeing it last week at DSP (designstudiopress), and the work is effing AMAZING. My eyes literally exploded in pleasure. Something like 200 pages of illustrations. I don't think I've ever seen a book so packed with great quality work.

If you don't know about it, you can buy it online here when it comes out. http://www.designstudiopress.com/new_site/book_pages/pics_alienrace/book_alienrace.html

To view samples of the work, you can go to Scott Robertson's blog at: http://drawthrough.blogspot.com/

And on a more mediocre note, here's some recent sketches of mine:

JUNKYARD Battle Bots! + Professional work+other

Here's some stuff from my first week of my second term in art center's entertainment design major.
This last week, we had to design Junkyard Battle Bots with MANY limitations. One, it had to be designed out of things that already existed. Anything that was on our bot HAD to be from somewhere- a shuttle, office chair, light bulb, fan. An object on your bot could only compose 10 % of your total design, so you were forced to go around and salvage from MANY things.
Second, it couldn't be taller then 30 feet. We were also not allowed to have guns, wheels, or treads, or wings (to fly). Only thing left was flying, since the game level is a Volcano.
The class is taught by Scott Robertson, and I truly believe him to be a genius. Not only in visual design but in theory and as an all around businessman. The information is invaluable and I know I will positively use it for the rest of my life.

Here's some Professional and other personal work.

Stereooo Painting

Stereo painting... is extremely fun.
For a detailed explanation, go HERE: http://www.starosta.com/3dshowcase/ihelp.html

My short explanation:
Cross your eyes, so that the two paintings, become four like so: [][][][] . Then, slowly, begin to uncross your eyes, bringing the paintings together, and STOP until you only have 3 paintings like so [][][] . FOCUS on the one in the MIDDLE. Wait, and dont force yourself to see anything. Your brain will automatically focus itself if you stare at it for a few seconds. After that, you can move your eyes around (while cross eyed) and you'll be to view the whole painting.

(P.S. It helps if you say "focus" in your head. At least it helped me. Also, after you're focused in, it's okay to blink, and move your eyes around slowly to view the painting)
